OBRIS CHAT

Obris Chat brings end to end encrypted messaging and one to one encrypted voice calling into the Obris security model. It is designed to operate through an active Obris VPN tunnel rather than intentionally falling back to a normal direct internet path.
Chat only operates through Obris VPN. Obris Chat is free, but an active Obris VPN connection is required for messaging, voice and video.
The VPN protects the network path. Obris Chat keeps message and voice content protected with its own application layer encryption. The two controls are deliberately separate.
TWO SECURITY LAYERS
Content protection and network protection are different jobs.
Obris Chat does not rely on the VPN as a substitute for end to end encryption. The communication content and the network path are protected independently.

One to one voice media remains encrypted while traversing the communications infrastructure.
Obris VPN path
The application is designed to require the Obris VPN tunnel for service connectivity and not intentionally fall back to an ordinary direct path.

VOICE CALLING
Encrypted voice without direct peer to peer media.
The current Obris voice design uses encrypted WebRTC media with TURN relay only. Direct peer to peer media candidates are not part of the intended production path.
Encrypted media
Voice media uses encrypted WebRTC transport between the communicating endpoints.
TURN relay only
Voice media is relayed through Obris TURN infrastructure instead of exposing a direct peer to peer media path.
VPN transport
The relay path is designed to remain inside the Obris VPN requirement so the communications service does not intentionally bypass the tunnel.
SECURITY USER INTEGRATION
Built for the protected environment.
The Obris Security User restricts ordinary cellular SMS and outgoing cellular calls so sensitive communications can be kept inside approved encrypted applications. Obris Chat is designed to provide the messaging and voice path for that environment through Obris VPN.

AVAILABILITY
Obris Chat is free and requires Obris VPN.
There is no separate Obris Chat charge. Any active Obris VPN subscription can be used with Obris Chat, including a standalone VPN subscription or the VPN included with the A$99 SecureOS + VPN annual plan.
